There is no definitive treatment for obesity but there are lots of options people can try to help them loose weight. Diets, slimming clubs, exercise, eating plans are most of the basic techniques used to shift the weight but when that doesn’t work then many obese people are referred for surgery, this is a last chance option for people who are obese and should not jumped in to, a lot of thought and consideration needs to be taken before deciding on an operation. The advantages and disadvantages need to be compared before there is any decision.
Obesity treatment comes in all shapes and sizes, from simple dieting to surgery. Dieting is your best option as results from surgery as not always guaranteed to work and may not last. Diet is a pain free, although very easy to fall off method of loosing weight. You need to be dedicated and strict with yourself when it comes to dieting as it is very easy to come of track and start eating all the wrong foods again, join a slimming club or something similar so you are with other people who are having the same problems as you are and you have the support that you need.
Obesity treatment in the form of surgery is a lot more complicated than a simple diet, although dieting is of course involved, there is no point undergoing surgery and using preventative measures if you are just going to go back to eating unhealthily it would not be worth the pain or the effort.
There are a few different types of obesity treatment surgeries such as gastric banding; where the doctors place an elastic band around the top half of your stomach through keyhole surgery which can be loosened or tightened depending on circumstances, there is gastric stapling; where the stomach is stapled to only allow a minute amount of food so you cannot put on weight and there is a stomach bypass; the most invasive surgical procedure of the lot. This is where a tube is placed in your stomach and food is transported to the end of you small intestine therefore bypassing three quarters of you small intestine the benefit of this surgery is that you can still eat what you want (within reason) and that fat content will not be absorbed as the small intestine is where most absorption takes placed and that is being bypassed, of course there are some drawbacks to this procedure, you may find that you will get a mineral deficiency and diarrhoea will be severe and very uncomfortable.
Obesity treatment may not be effective if you are only using method, try using several methods for optimum weight loss!
